MGM Healthcare Launches “New Tree for New Life” Campaign
Chennai, June 2023 – MGM Healthcare, a leading multi-specialty quaternary care hospital in Chennai, proudly inaugurated the “New Tree for New Life” initiative today, in collaboration with the environmental sustainability NGO, ‘Seerakku.’ The initiative aims to plant one tree for babies born in MGM Healthcare and In this first instalment about 300 trees are being planted. These tree saplings were planted in the vacant land belonging to Chennai corporation on Greams Road, BSNL Office. Through the ongoing initiative more tree saplings will be planted in the areas which are suitable for creating green spaces in the city. Thiru. Ezhilan Naganathan Thousand Lights MLA, graced the occasion and inaugurated the plantation drive along with Dr. Urjita Rajagopalan, director, MGM Healthcare and Ms. M A.Nandhini, B.A.B.L.M.C, Councillor, Greater Chennai Corporation and Thiru. C.V. Vinod, Chief General Manager, BSNL, TN Circle.
Parents of each child born in MGM Healthcare planted the tree saplings in their designated pit, around 300 tree saplings were planted in the open ground in Greams road (Income Tax Office BSNL, No.16, Greams Rd, Thousand Lights West, Thousand Lights, Chennai – 600006).
Each sapling represents a different native tree species carefully selected to thrive in the local ecosystem:
Malai Vembu (Melaleuca leucadendron)
Mahogany (Swietenia mahagoni)
Vembu (Azadirachta indica)
Senbagam (Mimusops elengi)
Vilvam (Aegle marmelos)
Pala Palam (Manilkara hexandra)
Puvarasam (Thespesia populnea)
Gulmohar (Delonix regia)
